I enjoy making seashell wreaths. I try to make sure each wreath is unique with lots of different shells... which means I buy loads of various shells. The clam shells proved to troublesome. I couldn't figure out a way to add them to the shell wreaths without the wreaths looking lopsided. All the other shells were three dimensional but clam shells are relatively flat. Over time I collected quiet a lot of clam shells and I needed to figure out some way to use them by creating a new design. Viola! The birth of the Dragon scale wreath!
Literally, hundreds of clam shells cover the wreath in an intricate dragon scale pattern. The various hues are amazing... brilliant oranges, vibrant purples, earthy browns and creams, bright pinks, and subdued lilacs.
The wreath in the photograph measures approximately 15 inches in diameter but you can choose from 11, 13, 15, 17, or 19 inch diameter. It is a heavy piece and rope has been added to the back for easy hanging.
